Week 9 Round Up

Today’s Results, Scorers and Current League Points and League Positions

3 wins a draw and 2 defeats today.

Mens 1s beat UEA 2s 4v2 proving age and guile can still overcome youth and enthusiasm. Simon Donald with 2 and Tim Sale and Matt Holden with 1 each.

The Men’s 3s also won by 4v2 against Ipswich Cranes. Goals from Ben Atkinson and Peter Booth set Newmarket on their way before Hugh Griffiths scored his first league goal for the club and Ben Ennion-Smith wrapped things up bursting through 3 tackles before slamming home the 4th. 2 penalty corners by Cranes caused some jitters but Newmarket could have scored more.

The M2s were victims of a heavily reinforced Ipswich 3s who scored 3 goals well above the standard for the league they were in. Newmarket played better in the second half and pulled one back through left back and presumed MoM Drew Ryan Wood, 3v1 the final score.

The Ladies 1s drew 2v2 with Cambridge South 2s in a tough physical encounter, goals from Lydia Evans and Jess Richardson.

The Ladies 2s got back to winning ways with a 5v0 win over St Neots 3s. A hat trick from Jess Malings and one each from Emily Sargeant and Tracey Cockerill. Still unbeaten, still top, Ely 2s currently 5 points behind in second place.

The Ladies 3s took only 10 to Wisbech 3s. Credit to those who travelled that Wisbech didn’t realise they were playing against 10 until well on in the second half. 3v0 to Wisbech, but heads held high.

Well done all
