Newmarket Ladies 3s had a cracking game this Saturday against Long Sutton 2s, dominating the first half, Annabelle (our youngest player) scooted the ball sneakily behind the goalie putting us 1-0 up after only 18 minutes.
Play was slightly disrupted 5 minutes later when one of our players decided to deposit the luminescent pink smoothie she’d had for breakfast on the pitch after a fantastic defensive run, she says it was worth it & the vote was unanimous that she had earnt lemon of the match!
After the clean up crew had done their awesome job, Long Sutton levelled the score to 1-1.
There must have been something about the number 18 this morning because 18 minutes into the second half Amelia put Newmarket ladies back up on top giving us a 2-1 advantage.
Long Sutton pulled their socks up & battled to the end, but Newmarket ladies were too strong for them with incredibly fresh legs after 7 weeks without a game & the final score was 2-1 to Newmarket, a great win to start the new year.
