A week of mixed results for Newmarket Hockey club.
Mens 1s lost 5v4 in a closely fought match against Bury 2s. Goal from Josh Dawson (2), Simon Donald and Will Wilson from the spot. 9th in 2NE. Josh has now secured joint first place with Peter Terrett as the club’s top goal scorers. With 5 matches to play and athletes such as Simon Donald and Jess Malings nipping at their heels, the race to be the top goal scorer by the end of the season is still wide open.
The rest of the teams only managed 6 goals in their games between them.
L1s recorded a 1v0 win against top of the table Kettering 1s, Maisy Swann with the goal that leaves a top 2 finish in their own hands. 3rd in 2NW
L2s returned to winning ways 2v1 at home to March 1s. Goals from Lydia Evans and Robyn Kennedy. 1st in 4NW
10 man L3s made the long trip to Long Sutton and came away with a creditable 0v0. 7th in 5NW.
The M2s more than deserved their draw at Dereham 3s 1v1 and if the M3s keeper wasn’t playing up front, would have probably come away with a 4v1 Peter Terrett bagged the goal. 3rd in 4NE.
The M3s lost 1v0 on a pitch that gave Harleston 6s a real home advantage, a proper trampoline of a surface. 4th in 5NEs
