Newmarket Hockey Club were well represented by the U12 Girls featuring Megan Wilson, Beth Wright (GK), Amelia Jones, Francesca Griffiths, Ella Worsley, Maisie Doyle and Nina Hill in their first ranking competition.
Whilst playing well, the girls were unlucky to suffer two losses despite some great play from the team. In their first game they faced a strong Cambridge City team with a worthy performance and great defensive work from Amelia Jones, Beth Wright and Nina Hill but sadly they lost 4-0.
The second game saw a change in some of the positions and Ella Worsley scored from a short corner to put Newmarket ahead 1-0 at half time. A few unlucky bounces for Newmarket and good strikes from Cambridge South meant South were able to score 3 in the second half making the final score 3-1 to Cambridge South.
Everyone played well despite the results and the Club looks forward to what these girls can do in the future.
