M1’s Win at Colchester
A dominant all round performance saw Newmarket put 6 past bottom of the league Colchester. An excellent hat trick from James Atkinson was sandwiched by two from Simon Donald and a good solo effort from Ollie Wade.
L2’s Get First Point
It was first point of the season for L2’s with a 1-1 draw against Ely 2’s. Some strong play early doors forced errors from Ely and a penalty stroke was awarded to Newmarket. Millie Hansgate took this opportunity to put Newmarket 1-0 up.
With a close end to end game there were lots of chances for Newmarket who were unfortunately unable to convert any further chances. Newmarket let in a scrappy goal to let Ely equalise. Hopefully we will be able to maintain a similar squad for the next few weeks and get some more vital points.
M4 Development
A great turnout again for the M4’s with over half the squad of U18 playing for the team. Bourne Deeping were clearly a more experienced league side and so went 0-3 down easily through well worked routines. Newmarket were undeterred but changed the format for the team for the second half with Dom George scoring a goal early in the second. It is amazing to see these youngsters grow over the season so far. Next week they take on City of Peterborough away.
Final Score Newmarket 1-4 Bourne Deeping
L3 Development
The ladies played well with a few debutants to the team showing off their skills. Bailey scored the first goal with a slip past the keeper after her first clearance, into the other corner.
Clow Wilson scored the second with some hassling on the keeper and pocketed the goal through perseverance.
Newmarket led 2-0 at half time but St Neots came back strong in the second period with a goal that was put past keeper Atherton in the opposite corner.
L. Evans then linked up with Bailey to score with a top of the net strike 3-1 Newmarket.
Lastly V Benedikz pushed up to support the attack with F Griffiths picking up a ball in the midfield, sending it to Clow Wilson who shot at the keeper with Benedikz picking up the ball after a minor deflection to put it behind the keeper.
