This weekend was the first in hopefully a few badgers’ games for the older juniors of the club.
Newmarket hosted Cambridge Nomads in a full 11 a-side game with some adults on the pitch to coach and support them whilst playing.
The team consisted of adults: Alex Andreou, Andrew Baker, Sean Park and Drew Wood
Junior Team: GK Jack Baker, Oscar Winteringham, Liam Mitchell, Scott Mitchell, Leo Park, Kaiden Wood, James Margetts, Ben Sargeant, Freddie Daniels, Jude Plumb and Logan Andreou.
It was an amazing opportunity to see experience and youth working side by side in an initiative to challenge the juniors of the club.
The result was a 2:1 win with both goals coming from the natural reactions of Drew Wood after a GK save or a deflection from a strike at goal.
Newmarket Juniors are looking at offering more of these games to other groups across the season with a return fixture planned for Jan ’23.
